Welcome to AltPropulsion.com (the “Site”), an editorial and community platform focused on advanced propulsion, unconventional aerospace research, and related topics (collectively, the “Services”). These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and the Alternative Propulsion Engineering Conference (“Alt Propulsion,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site or Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Agreement”). If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1) Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Site, any related services, forums, event pages, newsletters, and video conferences (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Services. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization; “you” also refers to that entity.

2) Privacy Policy

3) Eligibility; Accounts; Security

  • Eligibility. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Services.

  • Accounts. Some features may require an account. You must provide accurate information and keep it updated. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.

  • Security. Notify us immediately using our contact page of any suspected unauthorized use of your account.

4) Content & Not Professional Advice

  • Informational Content. The Site publishes interviews, research summaries, opinions, and educational materials relating to advanced/alternative propulsion, physics, engineering, and related topics (“Site Content”).

  • No Professional Advice. Site Content is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute engineering, safety, legal, medical, or other professional advice. Do not rely on the Site Content as a substitute for professional guidance.

  • Third-Party Content. We may host, embed, quote, or link to third-party materials. We do not endorse or guarantee their accuracy or safety.

5) Safety, Experimental Risks & Assumption of Risk

The fields discussed on the Site can involve high-risk activities (e.g., high voltage and current, lasers, cryogens, vacuum systems, pressure vessels, radiation sources, rotating machinery, energetic materials, strong magnetic fields, and airborne contamination risks).
Do not attempt any experiment or build described on the Site without proper training, equipment, safety procedures, supervision, and compliance with applicable laws, codes, and standards.
By using the Services, you acknowledge and voluntarily assume all risks associated with any action you take based on the Site Content, including injury, death, property damage, and legal consequences.

6) User Submissions & License

  • Your Submissions. The Services may allow you to submit or post content (e.g., comments, forum posts, files, links, images, videos, recordings) (“User Content”). You retain ownership of your User Content.

  • License to Us. You grant AltPropulsion a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, publicly display, distribute, translate, and create derivative works of your User Content for operating, improving, promoting, and archiving the Services.

  • Responsibility. You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have all rights necessary to grant the above license and that your User Content does not violate any law or third-party right.

  • Publicity. If you participate in recorded video conferences or interviews, you consent to our recording, editing, and publication of your appearance and contributions, subject to any additional presenter/release terms we may provide.

7) Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  1. Violate laws or regulations, or encourage others to do so.

  2. Infringe intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.

  3. Harass, threaten, defame, or engage in hateful, discriminatory, or abusive behavior.

  4. Post or transmit malware, spam, or content designed to disrupt, surveil, or damage.

  5. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services or user accounts.

  6. Misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or impersonate others.

  7. Publish dangerous instructions without adequate, legally compliant safety context or that reasonably appear intended to facilitate illegal activity.

  8. Interfere with the normal operation of the Services or burden them with unreasonable traffic.

8) Community & Video Conference Code of Conduct

To foster a respectful, inclusive environment for advanced scientific discussion, you agree to the following when participating in AltPropulsion events, forums, chats, and video conferences:

  • Respectful Communication. Be professional and civil. No personal attacks, insults, or disruptive behavior.

  • Intellectual Integrity. Engage in evidence-based discussion; be open to critique; avoid knowingly spreading misinformation.

  • Inclusivity & Non-Discrimination. No harassment or discrimination based on protected characteristics or personal attributes.

  • Safety & Legality. Do not solicit or instruct illegal acts or unsafe practices.

  • Privacy. Do not share private or identifying information about others without consent.

  • Moderation. Organizers and moderators may warn, mute, remove, or ban participants at their discretion for violations.

  • Reporting. Report concerns using our contact page. We may take any action we deem appropriate, including referral to law enforcement if necessary.

9) Intellectual Property; DMCA

  • Our Rights. The Services, Site Content, trademarks, logos, and design elements are owned by AltPropulsion or our licensors and are protected by IP laws. Except as expressly permitted (e.g., viewing in a browser, sharing links, fair use), you may not copy, modify, distribute, mirror, or create derivative works without written permission.

  • Your Limited License. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to access and use the Services for personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.

  • DMCA Notices. If you believe content infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to our agent using our contact page. Your notice must comply with 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3). We may remove content and, in appropriate circumstances, terminate repeat infringers.

10) Payments, Donations, and Purchases (If Applicable)

If we offer tickets, memberships, donations, or paid content:

  • Billing. You authorize us (and our payment processors) to charge your selected payment method for amounts due.

  • Taxes. Prices may exclude taxes and fees, which you are responsible for where applicable.

  • Refunds. Unless stated otherwise on the purchase page, all sales are final. Event schedules may change; we may substitute speakers or formats without liability.

  • Third-Party Processors. Payments may be processed by third parties; their terms and privacy policies apply.

11) Third-Party Links & Services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites, software, or services. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

12) Changes to the Services & Terms

We may update the Services and these Terms at any time. Material changes will be noted by updating the “Effective Date” and, where appropriate, additional notice on the Site. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13) Termination; Enforcement

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services, remove content, or take any other action we deem appropriate at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violations of these Terms. You may stop using the Services at any time.

14) Disclaimers

THE SERVICES AND ALL SITE CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND QUIET ENJOYMENT.
We do not warrant that the Services will be secure, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

15) Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALTPROPULSION AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, LICENSORS, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICES, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STATUTE, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT WILL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US (IF ANY) IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.

16) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AltPropulsion and its affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your User Content, your use of the Services, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

17) International Use; Export Controls

You are responsible for compliance with local laws where you access the Services. You agree not to export or re-export any part of the Services in violation of U.S. export control and sanctions laws.

18) Governing Law; Venue; Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Washington State, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Whatcom County, Washington for all disputes not subject to arbitration.
Optional Arbitration Clause (replace if desired): Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be finally resolved by binding arbitration administered by a provider of our choosing under its rules, on an individual basis with no class actions, and held in Bellingham, WA. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

19) Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us concerning the Services.

  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

  • No Waiver. Our failure to enforce a right or provision is not a waiver of it.

  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them without restriction.

  • Headings. Section headings are for convenience and have no legal effect.

  • Survival. Sections that by their nature should survive termination do so (including IP, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law).
